Good Lord. First time I've ever seen this warning issued for the metro area. This is, by all indications, going to be WORSE than the legendary snowstorm of 1982. No exaggeration.
The cold air is filtering in way ahead of schedule this morning, meaning the major ice event that the models had predicted has shifted to the south and east, leaving the GC area in the path of extreme snowfall.
Granite City is now in a predicted stripe of 14 TO 20 INCHES of snow by tomorrow morning, with extreme, sustained winds leading to WHITEOUT conditions. What you see outside at this hour are the best weather conditions you're gonna see for a while.
If you have any plans involving a vehicle, I'd get them done right now or in the very near future. It's about to Siberia all over Granite City.
