yeah...the other artist in Edison art does all the info on the blog and the website - he is the computer guy. he is not a fan of granite city, moved out of the town and has little connection if any to the city anymore.
i can not speak for him, but it mainly has alot to do with the people who live there - the kind of people who have responded to this thread so far for example. he feels it is a middle aged has-been city full of stupid rednecks.
but there are 2 artists - i am the other...and i am proud to say i am from GC. although i did not agree with the way he worded that, he never actually mentioned the city specifically. we call it compromise.
as for the stl sex positive remarks...
well...i am a liberal. i therefore do not pass judgement on others and have no problem with other people's choices when it comes to their personal sex lives...and think they should be treated equally. since gay people are often times not treated equally, i view it as our modern day civil rights movement.
that said - yes i have many gay friends...and i have noticed that gay men spend alot of money on art.
the sex positive stl thing you mention is a friend of ours who has a blog about sexual related topics. he loves our artwork and when we gave 2 pieces of art to planned parenthood for a charity event he advertised our art and the show on his blog, and interviewed us.
i expected some critique of the art from people who are not artist - a common unskilled eye or perspective...
i did not expect to have to defend my friendship with openly homosexual people and my love for the town i grew up in.
