You are right Ginger. There are sensors in the front end of the vehicle, and if it isn't hit hard enough to touch those sensors, the airbag will not deploy. I found this out by talking with one of the Ford auto repair people when I was in an accident in my husband's truck. The whole front end of his truck was smashed in, and the truck could not be driven from the scene. I asked him with that much damage (over $10,000 worth) why the airbags did not deploy, and he said that if I had been going faster, they would have but speed has a lot to do with the airbags deploying along with front end damage.
