+1 machine. When I'm merging onto an interstate like 270 I would much rather see a semi or 2 coming than a couple cars. The truckers usually have the decency to move over and allow you onto the highway. Car drivers will actually speed up so you can't get on in front of them. I see much more swerving in/out of traffic, passing in slow lanes, tailgating, running red lights, speeding and all around reckless driving by cars/suvs than big trucks. Granted, when a trucker makes a mistake it is magnified because of the size and mass of the vehicle and it makes better news (at least according to the media), but I would bet (no stats to back this up) that percentage wise, truckers are much more alert and safe than non-truckers (as they should be). Just my 2 cents worth.
