My name says it all, new to this board and new to area. As a newcomer it's often difficult to figure the ins and outs of a new city so I thought a good place to start would be to see how the city government operates. I hope this last council meeting was the exception and not the rule. The tension was so thick in that room you could cut it with a knife. I walked in about 20 minutes before the meeting started and there was a heated discussion taking place. The woman that sat to Mayors right (I think she is a clerk) who was calling out the names for the votes was extremely rude and unprofessional to the members of the board. At one point in the meeting the Mayor asked her to slow down so the council who give their vote. She was so rude to the chairman and made rude comments about the other departments. What I took away from the discussion was the chairman asked for her department to comply with the suggestions from an audit, which seems logical, but this woman refused and when other people gave their opinions she would roll her eyes, make ugly faces and whisper something to the man sitting to her right. So if anyone could, please explain to a newcomer just who she is and why she thinks rules don't apply to her. I definitely will be back at the next meeting, and I'm going to that committee meeting it seems that is where all of the action takes place. It will be interesting to see if she will be rude again.
