One of the schools in Alton's Special Ed class had that way of thinking, with everything. Not only that, they would give him the answers (while going over the work) and so all he had to do is write down the right answer and he got the grade. The kid I know was not only able to get a high school diploma, but graduate with A's and B's. Too bad his writing skills aren't past the 2nd grade, his reading past the 3rd and his math skills barely past the 1st grade. Now, he's been told he can do anything, and they were even pushing him to go to college. Talk about setting a kid up for a let down. Tell me how this way of thinking helps our kids. It's hard enough to get a job, let alone with the lack of skills they will have. They won't be able to get into college at all (they won't pass the entrance exam). I agree that we need to set our kids up to succeed, but this is only killing their dreams before they get a chance to live them. And, unfortunately, the kids won't realize it, until it's too late.
