I doubt they were ever really crazy about the idea of him leaving congress in the event he actually won his gubernatorial bid.
He's one of their biggest and loudest Trump critics.
This is just their way of making sure he stays where they need him most.
Democrats do NOTHING without some calculated motive. NEVER EVER.
