No competitive primary nomination. In 1984, the Democratic electorate allowed its Party elite to create super delegates to push votes toward their own preferred candidate, damn the party faithful. So, you think you have Democracy? No, you don’t because your candidate is chosen by the Democratic elite through activists, big money donors, and endorsements. Powerful influences.
