Approaching the halfway mark it does appear that the local sport shows over-rated this Cardinals team by quite a bit. They all had the Cubs selling off weeks ago and the Cardinals comfortably in first place ahead of the Brewers. After a real good start, Yadi isn't hitting anywhere near his weight and hasn't for the past month. Im not saying he is done but he sure as hell isn't a number 5 hitter. Carlson is going to be a fine player, but he's going to take his lumps from time to time this season and has. Goldy is just a slightly above average major league first baseman at this point in his career and the end of his current contract might be pretty hard to handle. He's a great guy, but it appears his best years are way behind him. Arenado is very very good but is he great?? O'Neil has been a pleasant surprise and probably the best offensive player on the team. DeJong was supposed to be a big star, who knows what happened to him, maybe he will bounce back, maybe he wont. Bader, well he's an excellent fielder and has nice hair. The starting pitching isn't very good, and the middle relievers are even worse. The back end of the bullpen is about as good as it gets and is the strength of this team IMO. Im thinking this team will be watching the playoffs on TV because I doubt the owners will go for it and give up young players before the trade deadline. I always liked listening to Mike Shannon over the years but he's really struggling now it seems to get through some games. He has had a helluva run though.

All these punks would have a quick change of attitude if the cops just started cracking some skulls.
