Mrs. Shipley inherited the supervisor position when her husband passed away I know they do services for the older people including a meals on wheels, dances, shows, etc.... Could the city administration or park district do this? Probably.
For geographic townships like Nameoki and Chouteau, couldn't the county reorganize maintenance of rural roads?
Certainly. Mayor Pagano in Pontoon seems to be a very well liked leader as well as a productive one. Could the money the township gets go to Pontoon to hire a couple of people for grass cutting, patching potholes, plowing snow, etc...?
YES
School districts pose the same challenges. At least Granite City is consolidated.
They could be consolidated with students from Madison and Venice. That would save at least two superintendent salaries and probably some teachers and support staff. From what I hear, many of the kids from those communities are coming here anyway.
Consolidate government so we can afford more FREE housing and FREE food...and the such....
LOL, or more road repair, textbooks, etc...
The bottom line is there is room to cut government to actually make it more efficient. One boss, with one standard making the highway crews do their jobs, making the janitors in schools do their job, making the responses by police and fire more efficient.
Always room for improvement but hey, Aunt Jennie still needs to get paid to answer the phone four times a day at the Nameoki Township Garage.
they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
