If house A is in pontoon beach, let’s say they pay $400 to road and bridge on their real estate taxes. The county send half to the township and half to the village.
If house B is unincorporated Nam Township and pays $400 on their tax bill, the township gets all $400.
When a village road, in Nam Township needs repaired, the village pays the whole bill, no credit at all for the half the money the township got to keep.
When an unincorporated road in the township needs repaired, the township pays for the entire repair.
It would be nice if the village would get credit for this money that is sent to the township.
This amounts to nearly $50k a year that village residents pay into township roads.... its been this way forever. I don’t anticipate it changing, unless it’s a law from the state.
