What Doug said on the oil pan R&R.
You will eventually get it off but will likely wind up pulling the engine after all.
It sucks but is all part of having fun with old Brit sports cars...

: Hi Again.
: I pulled the head off tonight and
: took a careful look at everything. No
: smoking gun yet..Number six cylinder is
: definatley the worst one. Top of piston
: is gritty and carbon covered. I haven't
: gotten to the bottom end yet so pistons
: are still in the bores. I spent a bit
: of time inspecting the hone job on the
: bores and I'm not real impressed. All
: cylinders show some scratches from the
: hone . Not up and down but helical.
: None are huge but all cylinders show
: it. I was hoping number six would be
: the worst but it's not.. Cylinder head
: looks perfect except for the carbon and
: oiled up exhaust ports..Hopefully
: tomorrow I can try to get the oil pan
: off. BTW.. Has anyone successfully
: removed a GT6 oil pan without removing
: the entire engine??
: P.J.
