Considering the cost of these things, I'm going to drill open the one I have and make sure the internals are not screwed-up. I can rivet the thing back together afterward if it all looks good.
Wish I could just confirm the "High-Speed" position function with someone that has a switch out of the car.
BTW: The rocker stuff came in. Considering the design, I think only one pair of washers will be necessary (inside the two posts). You weren't kidding about the wear on the shaft! I never looked at the one I sent you. Was it as bad? Sorry if it was. But if it wasn't, at least you're a shaft to the good. Excellent swap - Thanks.

: Ooops! My mistake Jim. I believe my '72
: Spitfire uses the switch/pump you are
: talking about. I have not bought one
: yet even though our Spitfire needs a
: new pump. I have however inquired
: about them. You should find that even
: with shipping these switches are less
: expensive when shipped from the U.K. by
: Rimmer or Canley. Not cheap... just
: less expensive, particularly if you add
: other items to your order to justify
: the shipping charges.

: I have several parts cars. What year
: gt6? It may take a day or two to find
: the one you need but I am sure to have
: it.

: Hi Doug. Thanks. Yeh, $60 for the
: toggles is a bit extreme I agree.
:
: However, the switch I'm working with is
: the later GT6/Spitfire (TR6?) wiper
: switch that had a "rotary"
: wiper switch and washer pump combined
: into one device. It's normally located
: over the driver's right knee on the
: later models.

: Hen's Teeth.
:
: There is/was a guy on eBay selling some
: NOS GT6 switches (the black, bent
: toggle type with white symbols). He was
: asking a lot for them... like $60 or
: more. If I find his auction link I'll
: post it here.

: OK. I know that last one was a long
: shot
: for response.
:
: Does anyone have a spare wiper/washer
: switch they'd be willing to part with?
:
: Thanks! - Jim

: Hi guys,
:
: I've been working on the new instrument
: panel layout (should be sweet). And
: I've been testing the various
: components so I want have
: "too" many surprises when the
: ignition is finally turn on. (Don't
: laugh - it WILL happen! - lol)
:
: When checking out the connectivity of a
: late model windshield wiper switch
: (with integral washer pump) I got some
: weird results. With the switch off,
: terminals one and two were connected -
: good. With the switch in the "Low
: Speed" position, terminals two and
: three were connected - good. However,
: when in the "High Speed"
: position, only terminals three and four
: are connected.
:
: Is this right? I was expecting two and
: four to be connected in the High
: position.
:
: If someone has one of these switches
: that's known good, could you test this
: out for me. Or if someone has the
: switch's schematic - that'd do as well.
:
: As always - THANKS!
