I use the external feed with a .075-.090ish restrictor, if necessary, and make sure the rocker/shaft clearances are in spec.
You may see a very slight drop in oil pressure at idle, if the clearances are a little wide, but anything over 1500 rpm or so the oil pressure will be blowing off the relief valve so supply shouldn't be an issue.

: I don't know. 20 years ago I found the
: rocker shaft on our Mk1 badly worn. I
: replaced it and added the external oil
: feed kit. The oil pressure suffered
: after that.
:
: During the engine rebuild this past
: summer I found that the over-sized
: springs in our engine were probably to
: blame for the excessive wear. I now
: have standard springs installed and no
: external oil feed. The oil pressure is
: good and there is lube reaching the
: rockers. I will have to let you know
: in another 20 years how much wear has
: occurred without the external feed.

: Roger all. I have other pictures that
: might be of use too, but I still need
: to host them somewhere that gives me a
: URL so I can post the link here.
:
: "Now" I'm not surprised to
: hear that my shaft was worn as well.
: I'd never taken the rocker arms off of
: a shaft before. Doesn't this sort of
: prove that there is some value to the
: external oil line that many use? Isn't
: there some way to use it without
: starving the #4 main bearing?
