July Meeting on the Water – Monday, July 15th

Hi folks - this month’s Meeting on the Water will be Monday, July 15th will be at Fort Wetherill, meet at 6pm for a 6:30 launch, returning by 9 pm. The Fort Wetherill Scuba Diving Lot is located at: https://maps.app.goo.gl/mVfd2RHZHiBSDrVFA

This will be a great opportunity for experienced flatwater paddlers to get a taste of RI’s rocky coast. We will paddle will round the point to the east and through the dumplings to downtown Jamestown and back, about 4 miles. It could be windy. We have established Potter Cove as a backup location for use as needed, so please track this thread for updates.

Please note that this is not a beginner trip. You must be an experienced flatwater paddler to participate. Boats 14-feet or longer are required, and a spray skirt is recommended. Bring boat lights or a headlamp for use as needed.

Definitely not Jon Sharlin quality, but here are my pictures from last night’s RICKA Meeting on the Water.

11 boats – good mix of flatwater and sea kayak. The fog rolled in pretty much as we launched, so the views weren’t great, but it was still a fun trip.
