Upper Millers flat water

Anyone interested in paddling 10 miles of flat water on the upper Millers from Winchendon to South Royalston on Tuesday, March 12th?
Meet at 10:00 at the Riverside Cemetery on River Street in South Royalston, just north of route 68/Main Street. Winter paddling gear, lunch, and wheels for your boat.
Shuttle involved.

I'd love to canoe this section of the Millers, but have a conflict on Tuesday. I could go Wed-Fri.

I have changed the date of the Millers River "flat water" trip to Thursday, March 14Th.

No, we will be ending/taking out above Birch Hill Dam.

I don't think there is a take-out below Birch Hill Dam before you get to the whitewater section. I may try to take the day off - never done this section.

I am interested in the trip, but came down with a killer cold Saturday night and still feeling lousy now on Monday. I think I will be fine by Thursday but I realize that telling you I am a "maybe" is not helpful for planning purposes. If you need a definite yes or no I'd have to say no. OK, thanks for clarifying. Based on the meeting location, I thought we might be portaging over the dam and continuing downstream to Riverside Cemetery.

So the plan is to meet at Riverside, shuttle up to the put-in on River St in Winchendon, paddle down to the Dam, take out on river right, and then portage-cart down the dirt road and through any closed gates until we get to the cars?

I couldn't find any info on the Corps site about the status of any of the gates at Birch Hill WMA.

I've never paddled this stretch, but I've biked in the WMA and bounced along the access roads when they were open in the summer.

No portaging over the dam. We will leave vehicles at the takeout.

Here are photos of the printed map by the Army Corps. Note the doubble dashed River Road between gate R06 and gate and gate W86 is only a narrow foot path through the woods.
