Here in El Paso, there will often be a skating rink set up for about two months. However, no one really learns to skate (since no one gets to skate daily or even repeatedly).

Also, those of you who skate or have skated, know that having a really decent and sharp pair of skates makes ALL the difference and rental skates are probably the worst of the worst.

Thus, this year I witnessed something that is living rent free in my head.

The rink had these bazaar, obtrusive blue plastic things I can only describe as walkers - although very much more visually overwhelming. Even the little kids were pushing these things around the ice. It was ludicrous. It was like watching geriatric babies, LOL! I wished they could really feel the joy and speed or real skating. But I guess (???) it was better than nothing.
