Can you ice skate?

I did...at one time...twirls even, not always ending standing up, LOL

I did when I was a kid, and Mum gave me lovely baby blue skates with grey fur cuffs. Loved them!

Here in El Paso, there will often be a skating rink set up for about two months. However, no one really learns to skate (since no one gets to skate daily or even repeatedly).

Also, those of you who skate or have skated, know that having a really decent and sharp pair of skates makes ALL the difference and rental skates are probably the worst of the worst.

Thus, this year I witnessed something that is living rent free in my head.

The rink had these bazaar, obtrusive blue plastic things I can only describe as walkers - although very much more visually overwhelming. Even the little kids were pushing these things around the ice. It was ludicrous. It was like watching geriatric babies, LOL! I wished they could really feel the joy and speed or real skating. But I guess (???) it was better than nothing.

No...never could. Weak ankles and no coordination.

Yes! There used to be a great skating rink down by the beach in SF but it is long gone.

When I grew up, there was no ice rink here. I always wanted to. Did a few times as an adult.

Yes. My dad made a rink every winter in our back yard. Haven’t in decades though.

sadly never tried either. (however due to overly mobile ankles, maybe not a good idea?)
