I do use HDMI to the TV when we stream something from the computer to the TV. But very often I may be on the desktop, doing whatever, while watching a TV program at the same time, on the 55" TV.

However I am beginning to BOOKMARK things that I bring up on the computer to the Smarttv's built in internet Browser, so convenient.
