This wasn't at all how Fievel had hoped things would turn out. He had decided to explore the prehistoric world, having been sent to the past by a scientist, rather than taking the time machine back to the present. It hadn't taken long, however, for him to be spotted by a predator. Ichy, an ichthyornis, had swallowed him whole and tried to digest him alive. However, he'd found the entrance to the small intestine and escaped before he could be digested. Then he had the displeasure of traveling through the dinosaur bird's digestive tract and being excreted out of his cloaca. As Ichy had taken his hat, which he had excreted a day before excreting Fievel, Fievel had jumped and seized it. While he had retrieved his hat and escaped Ichy, he now found himself struggling to stay afloat at sea.
At least one good thing about being in water was that it would help wash him off, something he direly needed after being inside Ichy for about 60 hours, 24 of which were just in the cloaca alone, getting covered in ingested food, feces, and semi-solid urine. His body and clothes were covered in the filth and stank horribly. The salt water helped mask a lot of that scent. However, he wouldn't have chosen this means of bathing of his own free will, as he struggled to stay afloat, going under and resurfacing many times.
Thankfully, before he reached the point where he would have overly exhausted himself and been in danger of sinking beneath the water for good, he encounter a large branch which had been blown into the sea and which thankfully moved into his direction, enabling him to grab it and give his tired arms a rest. He had no idea how he would get back to the time machine and began to worry if he would last long in this time period if he was never able to find it again.
"Think positive Fievel," he said to himself. "You could be drowned, or, even worse, digested alive and left as dinosaur bird poop and bones."
Fievel saw something up ahead in the water. It looked like a yellow dolphin. Maybe the creature could help him. "Hey, over here!" he cried out, trying to signal it.
"Helloooo there!" the creature's voice trilled.
"Help, I'm stranded out here!"
"Mo can see that."
"Help me Mo!"
As Mo saw him, he replied "Mo hungry. Things your size usually go down my throat. And Mo still in need of dessert."
"No, wait!" Fievel pleaded.
Before he could react, the Ophthalmosaurus captured him with his mouth, sucked on him for a while, then send him hurtling down his throat with a powerful gulp.
As Fievel fell into Mo's stomach, he realized that the situation was quite different from when he had first entered Ichy's stomach. While Ichy's stomach had been free of stomach acid, Mo's stomach was full of it as it was in the height of digestion.
As soon as he landed in the acid, his skin began to itch from the burns. Worse, the walls of the stomach were contracting against him. He couldn't believe his bad luck. It looked like he had avoiding being prehistoric dinosaur bird poop only to become prehistoric dolphin poop instead.
Mo, feeling Fievel squirm inside of his stomach, gave his belly a pat. That creature wouldn't last long. It being past sunset by this point, Mo settled into some weeds to sleep for the night. Fievel, however, was in no mood to go to sleep.
Being digested alive, what a terrible way to die! he thought miserably. He stared at some bones in Mo's stomach, realizing that that would soon be him. "Why me?" he began to sob.
As he began to despair, however, the stomach began to drain. Mo's stomach had started digestion nearly 14 hours previously. Thus Fievel had come in right near the end of the process. Thus he would avoid death in the stomach. However, Fievel knew that, in order to get out of Mo, once more he would be pooped out of a butt.
As he entered the ichthyosaur's small intestine, he soon began to feel the increasingly familiar sensation of villi tugging at him. He sighed. It was going to be a long trip. He waited several hours, slowly making his way through Mo's bowels. Because the Ophthalmosaurus was considerably larger than Ichy had been, the trip took far longer this time around.
Mo's small intestine was roomier than Ichy's had been, but the villi were also more numerous and thus more annoying. After spending 14 hours in the small intestine, he finally entered the colon.
The stench in Mo's colon was worse than it had been in Ichy's colon, for Mo was larger. Luckily for Fievel, Mo didn't fart as much as Ichy, but, being bigger, his farts were naturally worse smelling when he did.
He spent seven hours traveling through Mo's large intestine, getting covered in brown and yellow feces. By the time he reached the rectum, he was nearly encased in it.
It seemed to Fievel that Mo, unlike Ichy, may have anatomy similar to a mammal like himself. However, when he heard Mo pee and urine rush by on the other side of his anus, he realized that Mo, like Ichy must have a cloaca, but, unlike Ichy, must have the urine and feces kept separate and out of the cloaca until the time of expulsion of waste.
As Mo had pooped three hours previously, Fievel had to wait 30 hours till Mo's rectum was full enough to trigger the urge to defecate. In the meantime, Fievel came to realize that he had to free himself as much as possible from the feces encasing him, as Mo would likely defecate underwater, and he needed to free himself as quickly as possible and get to the surface, or else he'd drown. It was tiring work but by the time he began to hear many farts zooming past, indicating that Mo was about to defecate, he had mostly freed himself.
Mo, meanwhile, lifted his rear fin out of the way of his cloaca and began to push. Fievel was squeezed through his anus and into his cloaca. As he neared the vent he was hit with urine. The combined urine and feces exited Mo's cloaca along with Fievel. Bubbles formed in the water as gas and waste continued to exit Mo's body. Luckily, Mo was too busy relieving himself to see Fievel break free of the waste and make his way to the surface.
To Fievel's relief, he found that Mo had excreted him near land. He made his way toward shore and collapsed in a pile of brush. When he woke up, he would go looking for the time machine.
