My boss always knew that all of the 9 clerks I worked with would be out for 2 weeks oblilgation for duty as we were always being chosen. He was chosen once-LOL
My scariest time was a capital case. I didn't know I would be put on the witness chair and questioned by both sides, it lasted over an hr and I wasn't chosen. TX has the electric chair at the time and it was his 3rd trial, he kidnapped a nurse leaving her job at a VA hospital, stabbed her, left her for dead in a weeded field and she was found alive 4 days later but died. He had 2 auto appeals but lost in our county and soon was executed.
So many more I served on both civil and criminal, some short, some long, it was really a learning process each time. I always said if I need a jury, I would want smart, working people , not those sitting home with nothing better to do. I have served with Border Patrolmen, Lawyers, teachers and fireman, all good jurors. At one time, in my state, it was auto excuse but the laws were changed.
