I can pick out the Big Dipper. NYC has too much light pollution to be a good stargazer here. I remember watching the Perseid meteor shower one summer in Kennebunkport, Maine. A bunch of us kids were just lying down in the middle of a big field - far from any city lights. It was an awesome experience. The meteors were coming about one per minute and some were really big and bright, and some of them would shoot across half the distance of the visible sky.
