The finding of the English family Court was that the marriage was not arranged. They were living essentially as a separated couple for many years but maintained a close and respectful relationship until January 2019 - Haya having started a relationship with her British bodyguard in 2017 and began asking awkward questions about the treatment of the Sheikh's two daughters post the incident involving Sheikha Latifa in 2018. It seems it was only in January 2019 that Haya and the Sheikh's relationship properly broke down.
The most interesting thing about this whole issue for me is how wrong the initial press reports were and rather than fleeing to the UK, Haya seems to have come here with the agreement of the Sheikh and then decided not to return to Dubai and it was the Sheikh who initiated legal proceedings against her rather than the other way round.
After reading these judgments I struggle to see how the Queen can be seen to socialise with the Sheikh going forward, official business between monarchs is one thing but I don't see how she and her family can be seen socialising with them at Ascot and the like as in years gone by.
