To me, part of the clue came from the silly sash that she is wearing in several of the pictures. Yi Seok is supported by some interests from, what we can call, the US gong-hunting brigade. As far as I know there is no precedent for this whatsoever, at least in the Yi dynasty. It is interesting to see that the articles mention descendants of the last king, but no mention of who they are. Descendants could well include those in the female line, who actually have no place in making any of these decisions. There is also no mention of the Yi Family Association, which is officially recognised. Presumably they have the strongest right to decide on the heir or head of the family. As far as I know virtually all the children of Prince Ui were illegitimate. His official consort, Princess Yonwon, arranged for the children of the concubines to be adopted into other families of the Yi clan. Consequently, they belong to those families and not the Imperial line. Of course, their children and descendants are elligible for adoption back into the Imperial line, but not the children themselves. Finally, one observed that this is an Imperial Association. Shouldn't an "Imperial" organisation hav an Empress and not a Queen? Or have they inadvertantly recognised the emptiness of their pretensions?

: Wow! This is very confusing. I had read a
: rumor on wikipedia that the current crown

: - but by Yi Heawon as well, and the Yi Seok
: fan club was jumping on her opposition to
: make the point that even the clan matriarch
: opposed the whole adoption thing. So that's
: why I assumed Yi Seok and the matriarch were
: in cahoots on this. Your discovery reveals

:
: Christopher, anything like this happen in
