Hello everyone this is my first time applying to any programs. So far I have submitted my application at Emory, South, and University of Wisconsin. My question is how much does healthcare experience matter. I know it is not a requirement, but I would like to believe that it counts for something. I am currently a respiratory therapy and have been for five years. All my experience is critical care. I am a member of a pediatric critical care transport team. I get abg's, place artline, insert ivs, even draw up meds on transport. I intubated, set up my own vent settings. Im highly competent in all artificial airways(ETT, LMA, trachs, ext) My relative experience can go on for ever if I wanted.

It will be a very strong positive for your applicaiton. As long as you 1) have all the prereq classes completed with an acceptable GPA and 2) did acceptably well on the GRE/MCAT, I would guess you will receive an interview.

That's what I'm afraid of. I only have a 3.1 on casaa but my science and prereqs gpa is a 3.4. My gre is only a 302 . Does anyone have any idea if my strong resume and experience will help my chances ?

You have more experience than a lot of people applying, so you should be good in the regard. If your GPA and GRE are competitive, then I'm sure you'll get an interview. Since previous HCE besides shadowing is not required, they do place the biggest emphasis on GRE and GPA I think.
