I was hoping that somebody can help me figure out my chances of getting in. I graduated with a low gpa (2.84), and I was wanting to see if anybody has gotten accepted with a gpa like that. I really want to become an AA. I'm about to take my MCAT in a week, and based on my practice tests I'm expecting to get 75th-80th percentile. I'm also taking the GRE to boost my application. I just wanted to get some input, and see if anyone has gotten in with a low gpa.
My prerequisite gpa is 2.94. Also I forgot to mention, but my gpa has an upset trend. I got 3.33 and 3.5 my senior year for fall and spring semester respectively.
Unless you absolutely crush the MCAT, I'd be surprised if acceptance was in your immediate future. I highly recommend you retake some of the courses that are dragging your prereq gpa down, and make sure they follow the trend you have set your senior year. I'm guessing you won't be able to make your case to the admissions committees without bringing your prerequisite GPA over 3.0, and more likely closer to 3.25.
Retaking the courses will show that you are committed to improving yourself with a larger goal of succeeding in graduate programs, which will act as a positive on you application, but only if you absolutely ace the remedial courses you decide to take.
The lowest GPA of the matriculate data they accepted was 3.01 for overall and 2.92 for science. Note that this was for their weakest acceptance so you will need to make up your application in other aspects.
