I didn't realize your GPA problem. I still think you may be better off with the nursing route, just because it is less competitive. It may take you longer to get there, but what if you are able to get your GPA up to a 3.0; this is still most likely not high enough to get into an AA program unless you do great on the GRE/MCAT. My point is, you are spending so much time on pre-requisites, you want it to pay off. The nursing route may be less risky...
