Ok, I decided to take the plunge and quit my job as a science teacher to go to school full-time. I'll start this summer in a self-directed post-bac program to boost my horrific GPA. I'm expecting it to take about 2 years worth of post-bac making straight A's to boost it just above the cut-offs for the AA programs... maybe a little higher (yeah, it's THAT bad). I'm trying to think of the most time-efficient way to become competitive. I was trying to figure out what my next step should be after the post-bac classes. I thought about completing a master's program. I even thought about becoming an anesthesia tech for a while just to show how motivated I am. I said that I wasn't going to take the MCAT because the schools that I want to go to don't require it, but if having a good score on the MCAT is better than having a good score on the GRE, then I should probably take it. Of course, I plan on getting oodles of hours of shadowing and volunteering and experience... as many as I can. Any suggestions? Please help. I'm feeling pretty lost at this point.
