There are differences between anesthesia Aides, which are on the job trained and Anesthesia technologist, which is an associates degree and has its own certification board...there are not that many anesthesia technologist schools. Pittsburgh has the first school for anesthesia technologist. We have Aides and anesthesia techs.... Are they RRT's of RN, no... but that has nothing to do with what one does versus the other ( their scope of practice)....As far as I can see, many of the things that an AA does in Canada, the technologist do here...... Just because they had to have experience in another field does not change that...... I am not putting them down, I am just stating the facts....Thats what they do in their country... that is their scope of practice.....
