As a sophomore in undergrad, you are going to have plenty of time to prepare yourself for grad school. You are actually the minority here. Most people applying to AA programs are a little older and have already completed one degree, have worked for a few years, and are looking for a career change. That is the boat I am in. I have not been accepted into a program yet, but i do have some recommendations you might want to consider.
    1. Do as well as you can in all your classes. You want to have a very competetive GPA when you graduate.
    2. Shadow whenever you get the chance. It will teach you a lot and show the programs that you are really interested.
    3. Be a leader. Get involved in campus organizationa and community groups and take some sort of leadership role. It will show that you are confident in your abilities and you are willing to take responsibility.
    4. Do some sort of independent or professor-guided research. If you do well in general and organic chemistry you can talk one of your professors into letting you work with them on a project they are working on. It will look great on a resume - you might even get your name on a publication in a science journal.
    5. Don't forget about your GRE. If you have a really high score, it will help you stand out from the rest.
