I did say if you got a REASON you can do what you want. However, doing a general for a hernia vs doing a spinal for a hernia in most cases does not make a difference. If all things are equal, you go with what the surgeon wants, not what you want.
I can see you standing up in court and saying you did a spinal because that was YOUR choice and the surgeon could take it or leave it. Unless you got some pretty damn good reason to not go along with what the surgeon wants, you will get ripped apart in court.
