Thanks DC I maybe on the outside looking in though. I am little different from most applicants in that I do not have a degree in the health sciences. That means that at the age of 30 I had to go back to undergraduate school to complete most of the pre med requirements. It also means that I am extremely committed to becoming a great AA and to the AA profession. It’s been over two years now of coming on hear day after day looking at two professions which both graduate highly competent people constantly slandering each other.

I do in fact take the same stance as the AAAA and the profession in general. I’m not going to argue with you I’m just going to go out there and do the job as good as you. I’m not going to say that as an AA I could do a better job of providing anesthesia that just adds fuel to the fire. I have no hard feelings against any CRNA, in fact I think it’s a great profession but for example when the AANA argues for two consecutive legislative sessions that AA’s in my home state of Florida should not be considered Anesthetist, I take issue with that. I mean, come on…are you freaking kidding me.

Look both graduates of these professions work very hard to go out into the field and provide an excellent level of healthcare. These patients are all under a lot of stress and anxiety before undergoing their prospective procedures. We have ALL dedicated ourselves to making sure they are safe and hopefully trying to make a bad situation just a little better for them.

No one is going to lose their jobs and salaries are not going to go down because AA's join the workforce. Unfortunately people are always going to get sick and as the population gets older more of them will. Again we are all highly trained, highly intelligent, competent providers.

For those of you who have reservations about Florida not being an AA friendly state then you should welcome the challenge to prove yourself and come down here and make a difference. Hopefully I’m lucking enough to get accepted and fortunate enough to work in a hospital that has not had an AA in its Anesthesia department. The first thing I’m going to do is offer the CRNA’s to go out and have a beer after work like I’m sure Angus did. I’m sure we will all see that we are all good people with many more things in common than differences.
