I would like to share for those who are unaware of the Allied Health Profession with the knowledge
and skills we have obtain in our profession as competent health care providers(AHP)with critical care experience in the ICU&O.R. settings. The issue here is the majority of CRNA on this web site throwing ICU experience in the AA-Cs profession. In reality the majority of AA-Cs do have critical care experience.

Example - CRNA has a BSN=4 - 2-3 years of critical care experience ACLS/PALS and 28 months of CRNA school a total of 9 years.

Heres AA-C experience as Allied Health Profession(AHP).

#1.AA-CRN has BSN=4 - 2-3 years of critical care experience ACLS/PALS and 28 months of AA school a total of 9 years. Mary Sue AA-CRN,MMSc(Master of Medical Science in Anesthesiology and Patient Monitoring) Remember this Nurse was once one of your fellow BSN nurse who worked in ICU and chose to go AA-C route instead of CRNA route.

#2.AA-CCCP(Perfusionist)has BSH(In Health)=4 - 2-3 years of critical care experience ICU/O.R. ACLS, PALS,& NALS. Operating IABP, ECMO, LVAD, CPB-Heart/Lung machine,& Cell Saver Machine. 28months of AA school a total of 9 years. Tom Good AA-CCCP,MHSc(Master of Health Science in Anesthesiology).

#3.AA-CRRT or AA-CRCP(Register Respiratory Therapist or Respiratory Care Practitioner)has a BSH(In Health)=4 - 2-3 years of critical care experience ICU/O.R. ACLS, PALS, & NALS. Operating IABP, ECMO, LVAD, CPB-Heart/Lung Machine, Ventilator, Oscillator,& VDR. These last two machines are high critical jet ventilaors patients with major ARDS. 28 months of AA school a total of 9 years. Kay Nice AA-CRRT,MSA(Master of Science in Anesthesiology)and John Guy AA-CRCP,MSA(Master of Science in Anesthesiology).

#4.AA-CCer.ATT(Certified Anesthsia Technician and/or Technologist)has a BSH(In Health)=4 - 2-3 years of critical care experience O.R./ICU combine BCLS, ACLS,& PALS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities operate Cell Saver Machine, IABP, IRS, Level One Rapid Machine, FMS Rapid Transfusion Machine, Anesthesia Machine,Ventilators, Comprehensive knowledge of central venous and pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz)catheterization procedures including measuring cardiac outputs and intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation procedures (i.e., balloon pump).

Pharmacology(CPhT), Knowledge and ability to assit with airway techniques, knowledge and techniques in the practice on anesthesiology such as extracorporeal blood salvage, Prepare and administer medication as directed by the attending physician. Out side cases Angio, GI, MRI, ICU, ER,& CT 28 months AA school Jay Right AA-CCer.ATT,MMSc(Master of Medical Science in Anesthesiology and Patient Monitoring).

SO THERE'S YOUR ANSWER THE MAJORITY OF AA-Cs(ANESTHETIST)DO HAVE CRITICAL EXPERIENCE.

For the AA-Cs who do not have any ICU or Critical Care experience do hold a Bachelor's of Science Degree and have done exceptional well in AA school and performing as an ANESTHETST(AA-C)very well as a ALLIED HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL PROVIDERS. That's why AA-Cs with no type of ICU or Critical Care Experience have over 2,600 hours of Clinical as well as Pre-Med("Hard Science") to make up for those who do not have ICU/Critical Skills when coming into the profession. AA-Cs must also take either the MCAT(Medical College Admission Test) or GRE.

CRNAs either take the GRE or MAT, NOT THE MCAT! the thing that gets to me about nurese in general whether your a CRNA, ICU Nurse O.R.Nurse or NP Nurse the vast majority, not all nurses think like this always feel you have something to prove or look down on a person because you have R.N. title behind your name. WHY IS THAT ? WHAT HAPPEN TO RESPECT ? and treating people like you would want to be treated.

IN CLOSING IF YOU CAN'T RESPECT OR SAY ANYTHING POSITIVE TO THE AA-Cs AND THERE PROFESSION OR SUPPORT THEM, PLEASE DO US ALL A FAVOR STAY OFF THIS SITE AND GO DO YOUR DIRTY TACTICS AND POLITICS SOMEWHERE ELSE AND LEAVE US ALONE. THANK YOU FUTURE AA-CCER.ATTCer.AT,CNA
