I actually work in Texas at a Level One Trauma Center not California I was making an example(point). But truth be told Anesthesia Techs&Technologists in the State of California are highly well advance and education as well as the East Cost. FACT:depending what state or hospital you work at Anesthesia Techs(Cer.A.T.)&Technologists(CerA.T.T.)CAN and DO check blood with the Doctors(MDA), Anesthetists(AA-C/CRNA), and circulating nurse(R.N.).

Unlike the South, South West,& Mid West the Majority of Anesthesia Techs&Technologist are not so advance like the West&East Coast Anesthesia Techs&Technologists. But that soon will change too It's just a matter of time.

This year I attend my society annual education conference In San Francisco, CA from October 11-14 2007. One of the Director I had a pleasure talking to she is a Certified Anesthesia Tech(Cer.A.T.)and a Director of her region in CA for the Society of Anesthesia Techs&Technologists, she personally told me that ALL her Anesthesia Techs are Certified(Cer.A.T.), ACLS Certified,& Certified Pharmacy Technicians(C.P.H.T.)where she works at.

That's the point I'm trying to make it should be across the board in every state and hospital. The only way I see that happening is FIRST! all Anesthesia Techs&Technologist stand up and fight for there scope of practice and for whats right.

Next the support of our Society, Doctors(MDA),& Anesthetists(AA-C/CRNA). If It's in our scope of practice and/or we have been Certified and properly trained whether It's from our accredit school, hospital institution(In house education), then It should stand with no questions ask.

Trust me we as Anesthesia Techs&Technologist have our own share of battles when it comes to respect and us utilizing our skills clinical and technical. Some of our battles are similar to the AA-C profession that's why I feel It's very important that Anesthesia Techs&Technologists to support the AA-C profession and vise verse with AA-Cs to do the same. But where wining the war too as Anesthesia Techs&Technologist It's all about support, timing,& not giving up.
