In CRNA practice? I have seen it 3 times over the past 32 years of practice.

Once was when a CRNA busted his leg and arm in a car accident. He could not afford to stay at home and not have any money coming in. So the MDAs set it up that he could do the pre-ops and start IVs Monday through Friday. He did not get any call pay but at least he got to work. (MDAs are not the evil sons of Darth Vader that some make out.)

Another time was when a CRNA was under investigation for drug abuse. (Military base.) He had to come to work every day but could not have anything to do with drugs. So he got put in the pre-op room seeing all the patients. That lasted two weeks until they found he had not done anything other than being a bit sloppy with his narcotic paper work.

The last one was a new CRNA who failed his national boards. There is no "board eligible" status for CRNAs so he could not do anesthesia. He was given pre-op duties at 3/4 pay with the understanding he either passed the next time or he was out of there. (He passed.)

I think the job you noted may be clueless as to exactly what an AA can do. Before just blowing it off if you are interested, I would at least talk to them. If it is in a state that does not yet allow AAs it may be a way to get a foot in the door for the entire profession.
