why you love being a AA Archived Message

I have been lurking and reading this message board for months while considering ad researching a career in anesthesia. A little about me, I originally planned to attend vet school after I finished my first degree (BS in Zoology) but never succeeded. Vet techs make about $10-15/hr and I refused to have a college degree and earn that, so I went back to school to nursing school for a BSN. Well fast forward to 3 years later and I am not real happy as an RN. I am considering AA school over CRNA because the school is closest and my husband was not happy about my going away for 2 years for CRNA schools. I understand the difference in the educations and the titles, and it doesn't matter to me. What I really want to know, before I delve into a 3rd career path- what is it about this job that you love, what gets you out of a sound sleep in the middle of the night to go to work? Do you feel the MD's respect you as an AA and treats you as a vital part of the team or are you another gopher- but with just enough knowledge to do his job? I am tired of being ignored as an RN, I would love to hear that AA's are incorporated and involved and respected by the MD's!
