Again, the money issue. With this threat, MDAs would favor hiring AAs as anesthetists as some CRNAs would like to believe. What's the real reason? Could it be that those MDAs just see better performance in AAs than CRNAs? Better educational background? No one knows for certain except the person hiring. Who gets hurt in all this shortage of anesthetists and selfish motives? The patients.

I believe that most CRNAs believe that AAs are competent anesthetists. That's not the reason why there is such animosity expressed by some CRNAs toward AAs. The issue comes down to money. They want to keep the supply short, so that demand is consistently kept high and therefore very high salaries.
