You are correct! There are still a considerable number of nurses out there from the old diploma nursing schools. There are also a ton of nurses coming out of the associate degree nursing programs. Some of these nurses have a bachelors degree in some other subject and are considered for anesthesia school despite their lacking a bachelors degree in nursing. As you say, they are considered on an individual basis. I myself have a bachelors degree in nurse anesthesia as I trained before they all became master degree programs. That really screws me on getting a position as an instructor so I must satisfy myself actually working for a living.
