    Confused about pre-requisites Archived Message

    Hi all,

I'm a little confused about the pre-requisites required for this program. I'm coming from a Canadian institution so I'm not absolutely clear about these terms.

Typically a pre-req course (for example) might appear as:

"One year of general chemistry with lab"

Sometimes they show this as "2 semesters required"

Others will say "General chemistry with lab, 6 semester hours"

Now I am assuming that 3 semester hours = 1 course. Am I right to assume this?

Second, does a lab course count as 1 semester? Then basically taking a single General Chem lecture course + 1 General Chem lab course = the required 2 semesters?

Or does it mean I would need to take 2 lecture courses (Gen Chem I and II) + Chem lab (altogether 3 courses)

And last, how many courses is equivalent to "1 year"... my guess is 2 but again, I'm not too sure.

    Thanks!
