I'm looking to apply to anesthesiologist assistant programs this summer. While I've been reading that medical experience is not necessary, I'm still a little skeptic. I'm looking to only apply to NOVA, Emory, and South because I have taken the GRE instead of MCAT. I have a 3.62 GPA, 300+ GRE, and I'm currently a medical scribe. The summer after my freshman year, I did volunteer as a PCT for my family doctor, but I'm not sure how important that is. I have a good bit of extracurriculars, some volunteer hours, and shadow hours. For those of you who have applied or are in programs, is there anything that I should work on to be a more competitive applicant? I am definitely retaking the GRE.
