Anesthesiologist Assistant Program!

The School of Health Sciences is developing an anesthesiologist assistant program* that will educate qualified individuals to practice on an anesthesia care team under the direction of anesthesiologists.

Anesthesiology assistants participate in the provision of all types of anesthesia including administering drugs; obtaining vascular access; applying and interpreting monitors; establishing and maintaining airways; and assisting with preoperative assessment.

This post-bachelor's degree program will be a full-time, 24-month program composed of didactic courses with more than 2,000 hours of clinical training.

*Pending approval by the Connecticut Board of Governors for Higher Education, the anticipated start date is the 2012-13 academic year.
