No specific nearby school with high iQ's or anything like that. South is quite diverse. Think about the numbers, there are only about 20 spots for probably the same amount of applicants as other programs. That alone cuts the acceptance % by more than half compared to 45+ spots. So yes, it's harder to get one of those spots, and nearly half are taken already. That's why everyone on this board says to apply as early as possible. It's not too late to apply though and worth a shot despite everyone's rumors of a cut off. All it costs is the application fee. You should have most other things done from the other programs applications.
