You occasionally want to clean your cache, that eats up memory too. I use an app called Clean Master it's free that cleans cache and junk files, and is a RAM booster, too!
I have it on my Kindle Fire HD (2013), and it warns you when you've consumed so much MBs or GBs then cleans it up!
I'm sure Google Play Store has them too for FREE !
