Plus, there's a factor you didn't mention (because you're still young) -- one's age. When I was younger, I was always cold. People would comment about how I always had a jacket/sweater (jumper, as you and the Aussies would say) on. Or if I wasn't wearing it, I was definitely carrying it. But as I got older, and no doubt heavier, I really don't get as cold.
However whenever I chat with TMT and she says it's "absolutely boiling" in England, I know immediately it would be a nice comfortable day in Hawaii. When she visited me here, she said she learned the secret to surviving was not moving as quickly (till one gets used to it, I suppose). But I don't feel like we move any slower than people in England!
And I know I've mentioned this before, but when I was in New Mexico I'd have to run the heater in my motel room at night, and it tripped me out that the temperature I set it at (71F/21.6C) was actually COLDER than the setting on my air conditioner in Hawaii! So weird to think the A/C setting was warmer than the heater setting! And yet both were comfortable.
Another difference in geography is talking to Fizzy in California, who talks about going to the beach to cool off in hot weather. That's the last place you'd expect to cool off in Hawaii! I mean, obviously jumping into the ocean will be refreshing, but the beach itself is hot. However Fizzy says they have to wear hoodies on the beach in LA.
I'm heading the Oz in a couple of weeks, and trying to pack for their weather. Which, according to Mil, is unpredictable. Guess "layering" is always the key when traveling.
