So you say it doesn't have an English equivalent? So all the things they listed on the link you provided (hometown, birthplace, native place, etc.) doesn't apply? What's missing?
I love talking language and cultural differences too (as you might have noticed). I saw that post about the 2 characters in Chinese for penguin individually meaning "business" and "goose," and had to ask a native speaker if that was true. She said the first character by itself doesn't mean business, though if you combine it with another character it can. By itself it means "stand on tiptoe" or "anxiously expect something, look forward to," which combined with "goose" still fits!
She also told me how the characters for panda in Chinese are two words: bear cat 熊猫, and owl has three words: cat head eagle 猫头鹰. So fascinating!
