I personally don't think that should be a hard conversation.
For me it was hard if I was put on a spot where someone wanted to meet me, and people in my own house were nervous about me having to close contact. Like my dad would say "You can meet them, but don't let them come into the car." So my friend and I would meet, bump our foot instead of hugging, and then go for a hike outside.
I was nervous that he would want closer contact and that I would have to reject him.
BUT if you can have that conversation before it is even relevant, then you both know what the other person is comfortable with, and you know to respect that when you meet.
