Today, I was looking at recent photos of our officers not wearing hats. Not even a ball cap. I know there is a lot of controversy over the wearing of hats, but it brought to mind an odd thing to remember........using the wire stand from a flare to fashion a hat holder that stuck in the plastic door trim over the passenger door. Not sure who came up with that idea but it worked and the hat was within reach before you got out of the car. Other times, when we went with the PR24, you stored your old, issued baton standing up in a milk crate (that also held your ticket books) and you just let the hat rest on top of the baton.
