TN gas tax is 27.4 cents per gallon and has not changed since 2019.
MD gas tax is 46 cents per gallon and can change every year based on the CPI (up to 8%) Scheduled to increase to 46.2 cents in July.
(And we all pay the federal of 18.4 cents per gallon)
We have a conservative, super majority in the state legislature and the state government is very fiscally responsible.
By and large the people are super friendly and strangers are always willing to help you out if they can. Literally churches are everywhere, and most people have a very strong moral and ethical outlook and value system.
Crime - I lived in the DMV for 40+ years and never felt as safe or comfortable as I do here, of course every other person here is carrying a gun, and that’s fine too.
Only real downside is that it is hard to find good seafood near Knoxville.
