Working the midnight shift in Odenton area early 70’s before PPV’s. Started to feel a little tired so decided to rest behind a school on Fort Meade property. It was a little tricky getting behind the school due to a water fountain that I had to go between the school and fountain. I got a little rest before I got a call to respond to. Apparently I didn’t wake-up enough and sideswiped the water fountain leaving a six foot crease down the passenger side. After handling the call I started looking for a dusty road to cover up my stupidity. I turned the pool car in at the end of the shift . I forgot to tell my supervisor what happened. The day shift guy never found the damage but the 4to12 guy did. I was asked if I knew anything about the damage, I said no. I don’t think they believed me. Forgive Me! Later on that year Central officers got their PPV’s . Mine had a six foot crease down the passengers side. Just what I deserved.
