Re: A Police Car Story

It was back in the very early 70s on old shift 3 at old northern station. Lt Gavin (really sweet guy) was the shift Lieutenant. We got a brand new just promoted Sergeant. Jack Putsche, another really nice guy. Anyway, something on the shift happened and I dont remember what it was exactly except that it had to do with damage to one of the cars. So----at line up Sgt Putsche stressed the point that should anyone find ANY DAMAGE to a car , no matter what, contact him immediately. Well, I believe the next day as I was riding around a Robin flew in front of my car and, you guessed it, I hit it and it was stuck, dead as a doornail, in the grill of my car. I went straight into the station, called radio on the phone and had them tell the sergeant to 10-25 and that I had been in a departmental. He arrived, had that "you gotta be shitting me" look on his face. I took him outside on the lot and pointed to the Robin still in my grill and asked him if he was gonna need a report on this. we laughed so hard I wasnt sure what his response was.
